But Iâm not giving up. I love Disney and want them to keep making social progress. Disney World has always been a haven for LGBTQIA+ peopleâa blue oasis in the red sea of Floridaâand I think it would be a big mistake for them to overlook our communityâs support. They had a misstep with their support of politicians who introduced the âDonât Say Gayâ bill (it took me a lot of years to harness the power of the word âgayâ and Iâll be damned if some Eddie Munsterâlooking motherfucker is going to get me to stop saying it now) and they paid for it in the media.
I think there are still plenty of years and plenty of chances for me to play Ursula in the future, and it will stay with me that fans cared enough to fight for it. Hell, even people who donât particularly like me were on board. Thanks, losers.
And if youâre wondering if I still have Broadway dreams, of course I do. Theatre kids are forever, and I am what I am.
